Paul
Walsh (FIA 1998)
CEO
Paul qualified as an actuary in 1998 and founded Acumen Resources
shortly afterwards. He has nearly 20 years industry experience, working
in life offices and as an actuarial consultant, both on domestic and
overseas clients. The majority of his time is now split between expanding
the business in overseas countries and executive search & selection
for senior personnel. His hobbies include football and skiing and
he is a regular traveller. |

Russell
Keenan (FIA 2003)
Senior Consultant
Prior to joining Acumen he was a senior manager with one of Ireland’s
leading insurance companies, managing a large team across a number
of key actuarial areas. During his career he has gained experience
of financial reporting, pricing, reinsurance and actuarial operational
functions. Russell performs the annual actuarial salary survey in
Ireland and is well placed to advise all levels of candidates, from
senior personnel to graduates, on working in the Irish market. |

Cherag
Kalapesi (AIAA 2002)
Senior Consultant
Cherag is an experienced actuarial recruiter with over five years
recruitment and executive search experience. He has worked in both
the UK and the Asia-Pacific regions and his areas of specialism encompass
the non-life market and also the investment and finance arenas. Having
established a strong network of contacts within the (re)insurers and
the consultancies, he now assists many of the key London Market and
Company Market employers with actuarial resourcing. Prior to working
as a recruiter, he worked as a consultant for a number of years with
a global actuarial consultancy and is an Associate of the Institute
of Actuaries of Australia. |

Lesley
Wyper MA, Faculty Affiliate
Senior Consultant
Prior to joining Acumen Resources, Lesley was Advertisement Manager
of The Actuary magazine. The fifteen years she spent working within
the actuarial market for both SIAS and The Actuarial Profession have
provided her with a wealth of contacts in all areas of the business.
Lesley deals with placements throughout the UK, while being based
in Edinburgh makes her particularly well placed to service the market
in Scotland and the North of England. As a French speaker and linguist,
she is also able to assist both mainland European candidates interested
in working in the UK, as well as companies in the UK looking to recruit
from Western Europe. |

Jan
Sparks (FIA 1995)
Senior Consultant
Jan qualified as an actuary in 1995. She joined Acumen Resources in
2003 with 14 years' experience of the life industry. Jan began her
career in the international division of a UK life office, then moved
to join a global reinsurer in 1993. Here Jan specialised in pricing
and product development, whilst also maintaining a focus on process
improvement projects and the professional development of the company's
actuarial students. Jan is a member of the Institute of Actuaries
Vaccinations Working Party and co-authored their report which won
the SIAS prize for best paper of 2003/4. |

Vicky
Hurley (FIA 1997)
Senior Consultant
Vicky began her actuarial career at Sun Life (now part of the AXA
Group) in Bristol. She had a number of roles including financial reporting,
pricing, marketing and IT. After qualifying in 1997 she went to work
as a consultant for both Bacon and Woodrow and Tillinghast, specialising
in mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Acumen Resources, Vicky
managed the Interim Solutions business at Hazell Carr. Vicky lives
in Epsom with her husband Jason, and children Joshua and Lois. Her
long term career goal is to Manage Sheffield Wednesday - well someone
has to do it! |
